The little bookshop with heart

Reading Matters is a traditional independent bookshop, established in 2012.  Our ethos is simple; we are passionate about books. We are delighted to say that we are about to celebrate our 8th birthday this December and look forward to many more thanks to our loyal customers.

A wide range of books

As well as a wide range of fiction and non fiction, we have Ordnance Survey maps, local guides for walkers and cyclists for both locals and visitors to our beautiful Peak District. and surrounding areas. If you have forgotten your reading glasses – we sell these too, including reading sunglasses!

Children’s corner

We have a separate room for children’s books with fiction and factual books as well as learning guides, children’s classics and first books for children. Plus puzzles and jigsaw, colouring pencils, sticker books, paint and toys.

Book signings, talks & groups

There are regular author events with book signings and we run our own book group, LitWits, which meet about every four weeks.

As well as this we have ! We have won the Chapel Carnival Day Best Dressed Window for the last three years, which was amazing and all thanks to the efforts of the group.

National Book Tokens

We sell National Book Token which can be exchanged for books in any shop in the UK displaying the NBT symbol. You can also redeem your NBT here.

We also sell our own Reading Matters Gift Vouchers which can be exchanged for anything in the shop. They are £5 and £10 vouchers.

Dog & people friendly

There is parking outside the shop for up to 40 minutes or use the supermarket car park. Dogs are welcome with well behaved browsers and we now have a coffee machine for your use.

Books and coffee – what’s not to love?

Hope to see you soon.
